The following types of fires are permitted:
- Fires used for celebrating Twelfth Night ceremonies
- Fires used for celebrating school pep rallies
- Fires used for celebrating scouting activities
- Fires used for recreational and cooking purposes, i.e., camp fires
- Where residence contains four or fewer units:
- Burning shall be in a noncombustible container sufficiently vented to induce adequate primary combustion air with enclosed sides, a bottom, and a mesh covering with openings no larger than 1¼ inch square
- Burning shall be constantly attended by at least one adult having an attached working water hose (garden type) or a 10Number ABC fire extinguisher present
- Burning shall be between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- Burning prohibited in areas that are within 50 feet of any structure or public right-of-way
Burning is absolutely prohibited in apartment complexes and mobile home parks.
All exemptions shall be subject to the following:
- Only wood products shall be burned.
- Fires shall be attended at all times until completely extinguished.
- Fires creating an air pollution problem, a nuisance, or a fire hazard, shall be extinguished by The Fishers Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
- All residential, farm, and waste oil burning shall occur during daylight hours during which the fires may be replenished but only in such a manner burning material is consumed by sunset.
- No burning shall be conducted during unfavorable meteorological conditions such as temperature inversions, high winds, air stagnation, etc.
