The fire prevention office leads the charge in maintaining public safety through proactive fire prevention, code enforcement, permitting, public education, and thorough fire investigations. With a mission to safeguard lives, businesses, and property, our office plays a central role in community resilience.

Key Responsibilities

Plan Review & Permitting: We review all new commercial and multi-family building blueprints to ensure adherence to the Indiana Fire Code and municipal ordinances.
Construction Inspections: We perform routine and final walkthroughs, ensuring systems like sprinklers, alarms, and exits are properly installed and operational.
Annual Occupancy Inspections: We inspect existing buildings yearly, including schools, restaurants, and community centers to identify fire hazards and ensure corrective actions.
Fire Investigations: We conduct origin and cause investigations on all reportable fires.
