To be a firefighter with Fishers Fire Department, an applicant must pass the minimum qualifications:
Shall be a citizen of the United States of America.
Shall be at least 21 years of age and not have reached 40 years of age by date of appointment, unless in the 1977 Police & Fire Pension already.
Shall possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Shall possess a valid Indiana driver’s license (or obtain one within 60 days of establishing residency) and have no more than 8 active points.
Shall have no felony convictions on his/her record.
Shall not have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
Shall not have been dishonorably discharged from the military.
Shall not have used marijuana within the last 3 years, used any illegal hallucinogenic drugs such as, but not limited to, LSD in the past 10 years, used any illegal narcotic in the past 5 years.
Shall not have a conviction for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated or operating a vehicle with a breath alcohol content of .08% or above within the last 3 years.
Shall have completed the CPAT not more than 12 months prior to the written test for the application process.
