The Fishers Fire Department’s Safety & Training Division delivers high-quality training, safety oversight, and wellness support for all 155 sworn personnel. Our goal is to ensure every firefighter is capable, confident, and prepared for any emergency.
Our Commitment to Firefighter Excellence
We ensure every firefighter is:
- Trained to operate safely
- Conditioned to perform during any emergency
- Efficient in all aspects of response
- Healthy and resilient
- Knowledgeable in best practices
- Skilled in modern firefighting and EMS techniques

What the Safety & Training Division Provides
We support our firefighters through four core areas:

Comprehensive & Ongoing Training
We provide continuous training in firefighting, EMS, technical rescue, and hazardous materials response so all personnel stay skilled and current. We also offer state certification courses for apparatus operation and career development.

Safety & Risk Management
We manage injury reporting, conduct safety reviews, and implement proactive strategies to reduce risk for both firefighters and the community.

Health & Fitness
Firefighter performance depends on overall wellness. We support fitness and health through peer fitness trainers, annual wellness exams, and mental health resources.

Recruit Academies
We plan and conduct the 26-week Recruit Academy, giving new firefighters a strong foundation that meets or exceeds state and national standards.
