The Fishers Fire Department’s Safety & Training Division is committed to providing cutting-edge, high-quality training and resources for our 155 sworn personnel.  

Fishers Fire Department’s mission is to ensure that firefighters are trained to be safe, efficient, knowledgeable, skilled, healthy, and conditioned to excel during any emergency.  

What We Provide

Comprehensive & Ongoing Training

Fishers Fire Department provides continuous education through multiple forms of instruction in firefighting operations, emergency medical services, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, and other critical disciplines, ensuring all personnel maintain proficiency and stay current on evolving best practices. 

The department also facilitates state certification classes required for emergency apparatus operation and career advancement.

Recruit Academies

The division plans, organizes, and conducts the Fishers Fire Department 26-week Recruit Academy, giving new firefighters a strong foundation that meets or exceeds state and national training standards.

Health & Fitness

For firefighters to be safe and effective, overall wellness is paramount. The division provides support for firefighter fitness and health initiatives, such as certified peer fitness trainers, comprehensive annual wellness exams, and mental health resources.  

Safety & Risk Management

This division manages injury reporting, performs safety reviews, and implements proactive risk-reduction strategies that protect both department personnel and the community.
