Special Operations
Special Operations expands the capabilities of the Fishers Fire Department by providing specialized training, equipment, and response for high-risk, low-frequency incidents.
This division supports the department’s all-hazards mission by ensuring our crews are prepared for complex emergencies that require advanced technical skills.

Technical Rescue Team
Technical Rescue Team manages specialized disciplines used during complex rescue situations.
- Confined space rescue
- Extrication
- Rope operations
- Structural collapse rescue
- Trench rescue

Water Operations
Water Operations provides rescue and recovery capabilities across a wide range of aquatic environments.
- Subsurface rescue and recovery
- Swift water rescue
- Flood response
- Ice rescue
- Boat operations

Hazardous Materials
Special Operations personnel support hazardous materials incident response through advanced training and coordination with Operations.
- Support for chemical, biological, and environmental hazard mitigation
- Ongoing training to maintain readiness for low-frequency, high-consequence incidents
Staffing & Deployment
Special Operations resources are housed at Stations 391, 392, and 393. Personnel at these stations complete advanced training annually, with opportunities to earn NFPA Technician-level certifications across multiple disciplines. Typical staffing at Stations 391 and 392 includes two Public Safety Divers at each station per shift to ensure continuous response capability.
